Centerview Boardwalk and Butterfly Gardens
Project type
Commercial Installation
Date
Fall 2024
Location
Raymore, MO
Centerview Boardwalk and Butterfly Gardens began as two overgrown detention basins and became a living system designed to work with water instead of against it. Country Brook Landscape partnered in the transformation by installing rip rap to slow and filter stormwater, reducing siltation before it reaches Silver Lake, then restoring the site with 25 trees, more than 2,300 shrubs and perennials, mulch, and grass seed. The redesigned basins now function as rain gardens, intentionally planted with native species like black-eyed Susans, prairie blazing star, marsh milkweed, and native grasses to support pollinators and wildlife while requiring minimal long-term maintenance. Our installation emphasized biodiversity, seasonal interest, and durability, ensuring the landscape remains vibrant and resilient year-round. The result is a space that improves water quality, strengthens local ecology, and offers the community an educational, visually engaging landscape that tells a clear story about stewardship and design with purpose.
